For the next level of thermal performance, Ultracor developed carbon-carbon honeycomb. The company has manufactured carbon-carbon structural honeycomb from both pitch and PAN precursor materials. For example, Ultracor carbon-carbon honeycomb is flying in the GOCE gravity mission satellite.

The development of carbon-carbon honeycomb enables optical benches to achieve maximum thermal conductivity. Furthermore, hypersonic flight structures capable of withstanding temperatures of 2700C are achievable with Ultracor carbon-carbon honeycomb.
